The Next Generation – AQUA™ Lycopene + Vitamin E

Carotenoids, like lycopene, are completely insoluble in water. Lyopene also degrades rapidly in the presence of oxygen. Most supplements containing lycopene are oil-based and are sold in soft-gels. These oil based lycopene softgels do not disperse well in water or the GI tract. A simple suspension of cartenoid crystals does not exhibit a deep-colored solution. Only when the carotenoids are finely dispersed does one obtain the same color effect as in nature. For example, lycopene, a red crystal, is merely yellow-orange in solution but only turns tomato-red as a finely dispersed colloid. This limited solubility and the high sensitivity to oxidation leads to inadequately absorbed lycopene products. AQUA™ Lycopene + Vitamin E uses microencapsulated lyopene colloid particles, which produces a strongly colored, deep-red, stable colloidal solution when dispersed in water. In addition this microencapsulation will keep the lycopene stable during storage. This colloidal lycopene is paired together with ADDS Pharmaceutical’s proprietary nano-technology that can greatly increase vitamin E solubility in water. The formulation will self-emulsify into an oil-in-water emulsion, with the vitamin E molecules solubilized in the nano-sized oil droplets, thereby permitting enhanced absorption.
